1989 Studio FW24 presentation in Milan's HQ

Beginning with youthful, laser-flocked denim and concluding with refined fur coats and black suiting.

1989 Studio is the brainchild of American fashion designer Chaz Jordan, whose engineered approach to design has earned his label much buzz in the international fashion circuit. In his Fall/Winter 2024 collection, which debuted in Milan at the brand’s new mutli-functional space, the designer fine-tuned his label’s key silhouettes to reflect the “life stages of the 1989 Studio consumer,” from “high school through college, and beyond.”

In practice, this vision manifests in two ways: there’s a plethora of playful, young denim silhouettes to catch the eye, and there’s also an array of more sophisticated items, built with a stronger sense of maturity.

On the sprightly front, rhinestones adorn blue denim jackets, overshirts and trousers; laser technology casts a camouflage print all over another denim ensemble, and an acidic red tone puts the final touch on a jacket and pants set. Meanwhile, on the mellow end, Jordan puts forth beige overcoats, refined fur jackets, cropped black blazers and straight tailored trousers. Together, the line is a visual representation of Jordan’s own evolvement.

“To coincide with the opening of our new space, the goal this FW24 season was to emphasize quality and precision through simplicity,” said Jordan in a statement. “This shared ethos can be seen in the architecture and material choices throughout our studio as well as in the collection.” Notably, 1989’s Milan space will operate as a dedicated showroom, commercial office and design studio.
